New feature: Contact Spotlight
Our recent version 1.4 release unveiled numerous exciting features. One of those features is the contact spotlight. In this blog, I want to outline a couple of ways that you might use the spotlight in your business.
The spotlight is fairly simple. You pull down the list of contacts and choose from among customers, vendors, and employees. When you do that, you’ll find a brief note “this contact is a [type: customer/vendor/employee]” and the amount that you have paid your vendor or employee or the income you have earned from the customer.
In short, it is a real spotlight: a glimpse of a customer. It won’t give you all of the details, but sometimes you don’t need all of the details.
So here are some ways to use the spotlight:
Let’s say that you’re calling up a customer you haven’t heard from in a while. You may not need the entire account history with this customer, just how much income you’ve earned from them. By glancing up to the “Most Valuable Customers” graph just above, you can get a sense of how they contribute to your business. So is your call going to be a “thank you for being one of our most valued customers” calls or is it going to be a “thank you for being a customer; let’s find new ways that we can serve you” call?
Or, let’s say that you’ve got an office of staff and one of them comes in to ask for a raise. Here’s a quick way to check to see what you’ve paid them.
Or, maybe you’re thinking about the ROI that you’ve been getting from vendors. If you have a specific vendor in mind who has not be delivering the return you desire, this is an easy way to view what you’ve paid them to help you make the decision that’s right for your business.
