Tips to Use IAC-EZ
IAC-EZ is designed to make your bookkeeping EZ. But it’s a two-way street. We promise to do our part to take your business data and sort and number-crunch and all that… but you need to do your part, too.
Here are some tips to help you use IAC-EZ to make your bookkeeping EZ.
Set aside 5 to 10 minutes a day to input the day’s information. Once you get into a good habit, you probably won’t need more than that, but if you procrastinate a day or two here or there, the work will build up. Then you’ll be sitting around on a Saturday afternoon entering numbers and IAC-EZ won’t seem EZ any more. That’s not what we want. We want to TRANSFORM business bookkeeping for freelancers, entrepreneurs, and small business owners.
Hey, I know you’re busy. We’re all busy. But 5 to 10 minutes a day is not too much to spare. And believe me, I’m working my butt off to make it even easier! That’s right, our roadmap is chock full of great ideas that will make entry practically automated.
Or how about this: instead of keeping a list that you need to enter later, why not just put the information in right away? For example, while your customer is on the phone or at the front counter, and you’re creating their invoice, open another window and create an incoming entry. Lots of other businesses do this kind of thing – making sure that their books are up-to-date with the customer right in front of them. It won’t add much more to the time that the customer is there AND, on balance, it will save you time writing stuff in at the end of the day.
Not sure what information to include and what information you can safely exclude? My opinion is this: default to include as much as you can. I believe that finance is not a backoffice operation that should remain cloistered from the rest of the business. It should be involved, up front, and the information that the bookkeepers have should enable the business. Therefore, use all the features that IAC-EZ provides – like the tags features, the category and memo fields, etc. These are there for your use. For example, when you create an entry and you’re prompted to select a category from the drop down list, make sure that something accurate is listed there. If you provide freelance writing, don’t let everything default to freelance writing as the category. Maybe you provide technical writing and press releases and webcopy – each should have its own category. Or maybe you provide service to clients in different niches – either create a category for each one or that might be a good thing to use the tags for, so you can later identify who is sending you the business.
With IAC-EZ v1.2, the possibilities are vast. And wait until you see what?s in store in the future! This won’t be a site that just makes your bookkeeping EZ, it will be a site that makes your business busy!
